Eggs

If you have not seen the original version of the movie Sabrina, you should. I'm a huge Audrey Hepburn fan. In fact, my ipod is named after her. This movie is one of her early ones and it captures her youth and vivacity as well as extremely good comic timing. Add William Holden and Humphrey Bogart and I'm afraid that you can't go wrong.

So, the other night, I was watching Sabrina with my family and it came time for one of my favorite parts. She goes for two years to a cooking school and one of her tasks is to correctly crack an egg. You have a lovely Frenchman who is teaching her these things and becoming very upset when she is not able to master it.

"It's all in the wrist"

This egg-cracking is done one-handed and with finesse and beauty. I have always (in my extreme nerdiness) wanted to be able to do this. I have never been able to.

Today, I was making myself a scrumptious bullseye for breakfast (bread with a hole cut in the middle and an egg cooked into the hole - all is then fried in butter in a pan). I decided to give this another shot.

I am happy to report that I correctly cracked an egg just like Audrey Hepburn (at long last). Another thing to check off my list of things to do before I die.
